End Of 1St Term Bulletin 2019/2020
All glory to God our Father for yet another successful term. We are equally grateful to our esteemed parents for your support and cooperation towards achieving our theme. “Winning Together”. I am elated to inform you that all the bench marks we set to achieve this term were successfully carried out. Kudos! to our untiring teachers, parents and children for their hard work. . We appeal to those who are lagging behind to please cooperate with us bearing in mind that home work is for the good of the child and not punishment. .
Highlights Of The Term
This term was full of fulfilling academic and extra-curricular activities. The children’s confidence and self-esteem was deliberately focused on, they were taught, self-confidence, public speaking, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving skills.
Academic Achievements
From the beginning of the term and new session, basic underlying ethics / principles were religiously taught in order to achieve acceptable and appreciable academic standards. All teachers worked hard at ensuring that lessons were taught effectively and our pupils were inspired to work hard to achieve the highest possible standard in all respects.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Apart from the normal classes, pupils were involved in intensive learning in these aspects. The following were successfully carried out: All international days outlined for the term were observed, Scrap books were made, spelling bee contests carried out as well as , mathematical games to improve reduce phobia for mathematics. A geo-political cultural day was observed, we had a Nursery Interactive day, Christmas Carol and Funfair. As you l know, our pupils are not confined to their textbooks or syllabus for learning, a lot more is learnt in school but outside the walls of the classroom.
Contributions from all the clubs and societies made our school activities quite interesting and enriching.
- Clubs/Societies
All clubs functioned as expected this term. Kudos to all the teachers. Below is the summary of the activities of clubs.
- Book Club
They were taught prefixes and suffixes , nouns, storytelling, puzzles Dictionary drills were carried out , activities such as reading aloud and crafts were done. Finally there was an excursion to the State library.
- Karate
In Karate, the pupils learnt new basics, focus, karate competition, winning strategies, discipline and self-defense.
- Girl Guides
The Girl Guides had teachings on nutrition and menstrual hygiene.
- Home Makers
Home Makers were taught personal hygiene, how to use a gas cooker (turning on and off) how to sweep and keep their environment clean.
- Jets Club
This term our scientists learnt the life cycle of some living things and their characteristics. They had a dose of Mathematical games and were acquainted with lab equipment and there uses.
- Vocational Training
The senior primary were involved in vocational skill acquisition , these include – Making of petroleum jelly body cream and room freshener. We hope these skills will make our pupil’s potential entrepreneurs. New skills will be learnt next term.
- Independence/Geopolitical Cultural Day
Hmmmmm, if you were absent at this year’s celebration, then you missed a lot. Our children were colorfully dressed in their diverse geopolitical zones. There were also local dishes from diverse cultures which our guests had a taste of. We sincerely thank parents for participating and making this event a great success. May God reward you all.
- Spelling Bee
There was a spelling bee competition between the lower and upper primary school. After series of rounds, winners emerged. Certificates were given to all participants and prizes given for outstanding performance.
- Mathematics Games
These were also carried out to enhance children’s interest in the subject. As we are all aware, the children have tendency to dread the subject. The children had fun and their interest increased towards learning Mathematics through play.
- Practical Life Activities
Primary 5 pupils were taught how to cook Nsala soup, Pounded yam, jollof rice and fruit drinks during the home economics classes. Others were taught to sweep, dust, wash, dry and fold their hand towels. The children learnt a lot while having fun. We encourage our parents to engage their children at home in tidying their rooms and carrying out some chores at home. .
- Grace and Courtesy
The use of magic words will always be emphasized , helping classmate, (showing kindness) speaking in low tones , declining initiation (not saying yes when you need to say no) asking permission, excusing oneself, walking in a straight line and so on.
- Personal Hygiene
The following were taught – washing hands before and after meals or using the toilet, bathing, cutting finger and toe nails, washing ones hair etc .
All these would not be achieved through wishful thinking but through , determination and hard work. We thank you all for entrusting your children in our care. We promise to do more.
Teacher Refresher Course
As it is in our culture, teachers present themselves for in-house refresher courses to improve their teaching skills. This term we had mathematics seminar on application in daily life activities. We were also taught how to teach mathematics and to understand mathematical language. This will help to improve the quality of teaching mathematics.
New Pupils Enrollment
The school recorded a number of new pupils this term. They were given an orientation on the school, its environment, rules etc. One could see excitement and enthusiasm on their faces as they went round the facilities on ground for them. We are equally excited to have them join us. Based on this, we are assured we are moving in the right direction.
Open Day
The turnout for open day was impressive. This implies that we are walking and working together as a team for the benefit of the children. For those who couldn’t make it we encourage you to do so next term.
School Uniform
We still insist on our pupils wearing the correct uniform purchased in the school. Please note that we will not permit defaulters into their classes next term. We hope our pupils learn to obey rules and regulations both at home and in the school.
Beads and other hair accessories
The use of beads, hair accessories, attachments, dangling ear-rings are prohibited in the school. This of course is for safety reasons as we have recorded cases where children either push it through their nose or ear. Hence we employ our parents to cooperate in keeping our pupils safe.
Punctuality
We understand with our parents who come from far away locations. We however, plead with you to do better in leaving home early. Remember the gate closes at 8:00am.
School Fees
Please be reminded that 70% – 100% of your child’s school fees must be paid on or before resumption on the 13th January 2020.
Holiday Assignment
Pupils have been given assignments in different subjects to keep them busy during the yuletide. Please ensure these are done and submitted on the day of resumption. This will form part of their second term assessment.
Conclusion
In conclusion, as we celebrate, please remember to monitor your children’s movement, the days are indeed evil, so watch and pray.
Please remember to add white panty, hose / long socks and the recommended cardigan to your shopping list against the weather in January/February. .

School closed on 13th December, 2019 and will resume 12th January for boarders and 13th January, 2020 for day pupils. God’s willing.
