END OF TERM NEWS LETTER 2018/2019

Dear Esteemed Parent,

As we have come to the end of another term, the last in the 2018/2019 session, I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate God Almighty who has been our help guide and protector in ages past. May His name be glorified and honoured forever. Let me also thank all parents for the support you have given both to your child(ren) and to the school. It is wonderful to end the session on a remarkable feat.

Before I go further, let me mention some of our achievements in the last term.

If you can recall, we set up a 60% target for every student in all subjects. To the Glory of God, we were able to reach 80%. We will continue to work hard until we achieve 100%. The theme for the term was “Panaf my School”; the aim was to teach the children to love their school, in particular which had been extended to the country in general. These they demonstrated with much enthusiasm in cleaning the environment, dressing well to school, singing and honouring the school/the National anthem with passion.

We participated in the Nigerian society of Engineers Science quiz competition and we emerged the over all winners. We also qualified for the final selection of Mathematical Association of Nigerian (MAN) competition in the state in which Daniel Okoli(SS2 student) came first in the state.

Also, the chess club participated in a chess competition organized by Kaduna State Chess Association. Many schools participated and we came first. Likewise, at the Kaduna State media sport challenge held at Ahmadu Bello Stadium, the school came first in sport quiz competition.

Three of our students:Collin Innocent, UtibeAkpan and ChinemeremEzeh were selected to participate in the Kennedy Lugar Youth Exchange programme in the United State of America after the qualifying examination.

Also, Abdulazeez Mahmud– a JS1 student represented us well at the KADA spelling Bee held at KASU, Meanwhile, Joshua Bada– a JS3 studentqualified for National Spelling Bee competition. The grand finale took place in Akwa-Ibom state between 24th and 27th July, 2019. I am very pleased to inform you that our intelligent speller did his best to be among the first 3 to represent Nigeria in Uganda for the African finals but he was only able to be one of the first 10, in fact the 8th in the country. We celebrate him for this great feat.

The achievements are too numerous to mention. However, we are glad to inform you that our students are doing very well in both academic and morals; we intend to do more in the forth coming new session God’s willing.

Your number and the child’s name should also be forwarded. We wish all our students success and pray that all will be promoted to the next class.

Our JS3 and SS3 students have successfully finished their exams and we have started receiving excellent results in the exams. The just released SS3 WAEC/SSCE result shows that 98% of them got 5 credits including Maths and English. We pray that the same performance will be exhibited in the other exams. In the meantime, those who did well in our internal JSCE mock exams were awarded on the assembly. Likewise, we will present prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positionsto students in JS1 & JS2, SS1 & SS2 on the first week of resumption. Please bear with us.

Meanwhile, the graduation activities for SS3 students were very successful. We congratulate the grandaunts and wish them well in their further studies. On behalf of the management, staff and students of Great Panaf Schools, I convey our appreciation for your support and prayers.

HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT

In other to keep students busy during holidays as usual, our teachers have prepared take- home assignments for the students. Every student has a copy of the assignment in the envelope; please ensure that they are fully engaged so that they will not be objects of use by the devil as the saying “an idle mind is the devils workshop”.

However, the school will open for the summer lesson on 5th August, 2019 at 8:00am Monday to Thursday.  Also the admin staff will be around to attend issues and any enquiry. Resumption date for next term is September 15th for boarding students and September 16th for day students.
