Dear Esteemed Parent,

We have come to the end of the first term of the 2022/2023 academic session. We spent a total of fourteen (14) weeks and are confident that the scheme for the term was fully covered. We appreciate God Almighty for guidance and protection, may His name alone be glorified. We also thank you for your tireless support to both the child(ren) and the school, it is wonderful to know we have your cooperation as we work together in bringing up our future generation.

PROGRESS REPORT

At the beginning of the term, we introduced a theme “Developing a positive mind-set”. The concept of “Character and positive thinking skills” was the main theme of our mentorship meetings throughout the term. This was demonstrated through setting of goals, understanding mind set, developing the mind positively, by consciously selecting what goes into your mind i.e. through reading, listening and watching and also knowing what to do at the right time.

Emphasis was laid on the choice of what to read especially materials that can help develop their cognitive abilities based on the belief that students who engage in positive thinking do extremely well in all aspects of life. We are so confident that the children have gained a lot from these topics and the impact will show in the results.

.ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT

Academic activities for the term were based on theoretical and practical classes, this was carried out in all subjects. Students also learned skills such as bead work, body balm (Pomade) making, Liquid soap making etc. All these were integrated into curriculum for basic 7 and 8 respectively to ensure that our learners acquire skills that may ignite the passion for entrepreneurship in them for the future and to help them save the cost of buying these products from the market. Equally, extra lessons and intervention lessons were carried out to meet up with school work and assist those who are lagging behind in various subjects. In line with this, first contact maths muse has continued to further prompt students’ level of assimilation and comprehension of the subject.

In addition, the school purchased computer based JAMB and WAEC/NECO past questions and answers for our SS3 students. These were uploaded in all the computer systems for students practice on JAMB CBT test and also get them acquainted with the nature of questions set by JAMB and other exam bodies.

I am glad to inform you that we have successfully conducted two JAMB mock examinations. The results so far are encouraging but our target as a school is 250 and above in JAMB and 9 A1 in WAEC/NECO we believe that as we progress with subsequent mock exams, we will achieve a tremendous result at the JAMB/WAEC/NECO examinations by the end of the session.

 NECO RE-ACCREDITATION

We operate an open door policy which generates a peaceful atmosphere for hard work and dedication of teachers. All necessary materials and equipment are provided for effective teaching and learning. I am proud to inform you that the visit by the National Examination Council for re-accreditation of the school exam Centre was very successful and the school met all the requirements for the re-accreditation exercise. The team commended the school for the quality of teaching staff and learning equipment / materials.

COMPETITIONS AND EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENTS.

The school demonstrated desired outcomes in the performance of our students at both State and National secondary school competitions such as: NNPC science quiz competition, MAN Maths competition, State and National spelling bee competitions, science exhibitions and many more. Our students developed a motion alarm dictator, clap switch and a solar car which was exhibited at the Change–Makers talent searchlight organized by Hope Builders and ASHOKA Fellowship with the theme: ‘Seeds for the Future’.

STAFF TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT

Before the resumption of academic activities for the year, seminar/workshops were organized for teachers to enhance their teaching methodology. The first seminar was on productivity enhancement for teachers with subtopics on work ethics and attitude to work, transformative classroom management, discipline in the class- alternative to physical punishment and developing effective and dynamics communication skills. The second seminar was on “A professional teacher” which was centered on characteristics, principles, qualities and functional performance of a student. These seminar topics played a great role in the academic achievements this year.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Extra-curricular activities went on well in the school. Different club activities were organized for the general development of the students/pupils.  Some of the activities carried out were; quiz, drama, paper presentations and so on. Equally, some important dates were marked and awareness about those dates was created on the assembly ground. The term ended with a Christmas carol and funfair to jumpstart the merriment of the season.

 PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES.

We have experienced great improvement on payment of school fees, we are grateful to you despite the harsh economy which had grave consequences on everyone’s income. We appreciate you immensely and pray that God will enlarge your coast. We ask for the kind understanding of those who we had to stop from writing exams as a result of fees and promise they would be attended to once payment is made. Going forward, please note that NO child would be allowed into the school premises without school fees teller indicating at least 70% payment. Thank you for understanding.

SECURITY

Ultimately, security is of God and we are grateful that we experienced peace throughout the term. Upon the reopening of the boarding house, we were able to beef up the security of the school premises both in the day time and at night. We continue to pray for peace and security throughout the state and the nation at large.

 HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT

As it is in our usual habit and in order to keep students busy during the holidays, our teachers have prepared take-home assignments for the students. Every student has a copy of the assignment, marked exam scripts and school fees teller in an envelope; please ensure that they are fully engaged at all times. Remember, “An idle mind is the devils workshop”.

APPRECIATION

On behalf of the Board of Governors, Management, Staff and Pupils/Students of this great citadel of learning, I appreciate the contribution of parents in complementing the efforts of the school through your relentless advice and monitoring of school activities to ensure pupils/students comply and participate fully. Equally, we thank the PTA for the renovation work done on our basketball court, the redesigning of volley ball / badminton court and donation of table tennis to the school. We also appreciate the PTA for the Christmas / end of year gifts given to staff. God bless the PTA.

We thank God for safety, promotions and the blessing of new born babies. May God bless you. Our prayers and best wishes for a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2023.
